As speakers, one of our main products is the presentation we give before a live audience. But we also know that back of the room sales are just as important. And with the growth of the internet, online sales are equally as important. We have so much to offer - we just need to put our knowledge into the form of products!

Books are one of the premiere products you can have. A book brings you credibility. It shouts that you are the expert. Yet many speakers hesitate writing a book. Why? There could be several reasons:

  • Fear
  • Lack of information
  • Time

In order to help you overcome some of these barriers to your book, this page will point you to helpful resources. Some are free; others are paid. You will choose the resources that meet your needs at the moment and you'll come back to get more resources as your progress through this journey to a book.

The Writing Process

How to Write a Book over Lunch. This new article from Dr. Jeanette Cates outlines the way to write a book in your favorite restaurant and while waiting on other appointments. You can have your book written and in print in 90 days or less with this process!

One of the most valuable resources I have found is the course How to Write a Book in 14 Days. I agree. It sounded too good to be true, but I found out it was real. Whether or not you purchase the manual immediately, you must sign up for the free course Steve offers. It is excellent!

If you're interested in creating an ebook, the How to Write an eBook in 7 Days outlines a great process.

There's a book in everyone, including you. You know something that other people would pay to know. It can be right under your nose without seeing it. MYKS! is a proven system that shows you how to find "the infoproduct within," how to create and publish it, and how to market and sell it.

Selling your very own, proprietary product is the small business person's best chance to succeed on the Net. And MYKS! is the best way to do it.

The Publishing Process

I just found this site! It provides links to a lot of information sites, so I think it's an excellent place to start your search for information on the publishing process. One of the neatest things they offer is a FREE book on publishing. It's particularly interesting because they published on different types of paper, so that while you're reading about the choices you make, you're seeing examples of them.

The Marketing Process

The classic work in this area is 1001 Ways to Market your Book from John Kremer. It's a must have for any author or publisher! John also offers a GREAT book marketing seminar. I attended in August and got a lot from it. He is offering another seminar in February in California. It's well worth your three days!

This creative book walks you through the steps to doing book signings in book stores and other venues. From a packing list to ways to save money on the road, it's a gem. If you haven't done a bookstore tour before, this will take the mystery out of the process.
